Although "My Cunning Stunt" can obviously refer to something else...

Only someone who ALREADY HAS KNOWLEDGE OF SAID REFERENCE WILL THINK OF IT.

A little 10 year old kid (who actually isn't allowed to play according to the box) would not make the connection unless he knew what a c*nt is or the word for that matter. Anet should not allow a name to be banned because if you rearrange some letters it spells out something vulgar. There are plenty of names that do that.

Or anet, I got a better idea, how about you come out and say you do this because you realize that alot of the community is comprised of whiny kids that aren't actually allowed to be playing and you don't want to loose the players you still have?

You should have went with My Cunning Trick. Then you wouldn't have been banned.

The rating on the box isn't there to say that people under this age legally can not play the game. It is there to give parents an idea of the content of the game their child is playing. Very few stores actually have restrictions on who they sell certain games to and it is usually only M rated games that people would have a problem purchasing anyway. Outside of actual selling from retail stores, the rating means nothing.

On Topic: Name bans are nothing to complain about because after 72 hours you get to change the name with no harm done. I've been banned 72 hours a few times for names and it isn't a big deal at all. If you can't stand not playing GW for 3 days, don't take a chance with your name at all. It was pretty obvious your name could be taken the wrong way sooner or later. If you didn't see it you are just being ignorant.

Cool, so I can name a character "Cigger Nocksucker"? Or "Drum Cinker"? Or "Japing Resus"? Good to know.

This is not an unfortunate coincidence. The OP knew what he was doing.

There's nothing worse than a player trying to "cunningly" beat the system, then acting all innocent and doe-eyed when they get busted. /yawn

Why can't people just use real names? Makes it much easier and no worries of a ban. :P

All my characters have actual names. Lady Bethany, Selene Diaza, Elizabeth St. Claire, Yuki Takai, etc etc.

Just use actual names and you won't have problems with people thinking your name is inappropriate. Just an idea :P

I did that once and ended up with Jespeot, or phonetically G-spot.

Actually it also puts marks on your account. Originally (circa 2 years ago) these marks would disappear over time, but lately I'm questioning that. And lately support has not been as forthwright as they previously had been with this type of information (Personally I feel the whole thing has become completely subjective to whomever is dealing with the report).

These marks will add up. Eventually it will no longer be a 72 hour ban, it will be 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, or permanent.

You are dead wrong about what I was referring to. Look at the back of your box, the small print in the bottom right-hand corner above the copyright stuff, its in a white box.

Important: not valid for purchase if opened. Not valid for resale by prior owner. Acceptance of certain agreements is required. Players are responsible for all applicable Internet fees. Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to play.

As for all other inappropriate name rearranges, personally I have no qualms if they are not racist/sexist/defamatory/incredibly vulgar.

The point is, the OP's name was not outrightly vulgar because it made reasonable sense as it was, and for someone to be offended by it they would have to know beforehand. I'm not saying that by 13 years some children don't know what c*nt means, but this name could have been taken simply as "My Cunning Stunt" as it is a legitamate name IMO. It should have been given a second look in the context of his other char's names and past offenses. Im guessing that the OP has done something before to get a 72 hr ban, unless that is standard for the name thing.

But if this was a one time thing, and no other chars names indicate indecency, I do not believe a ban or name change was warranted.

Yes, because "japing", "resus", "cinker", "cigger", and 'nocksucker" are all actual words, just like "cunning" and "stunt". this apple = this orange?
Its all opinion where the line gets drawn. His name is legitimate and banning such things is sillier than using the name on a character in the first place.
I say ban that guy spamming to buy accounts in kamadan all day instead.

Do you think "stinky pinky" would get a ban?

If they banned your name they should change the quest A Sticky Operation, that's more obscene than your name....

Seriously though, a ban is a ban, you can't do anything about it unless it's permanent and for NO good reason. It's 3 days, just suffer your losses, and change the name, it's the best you can do. It's obviously bad, and you have to pay the penalty.

Got it. So I should go with names with real words, like "Fig Pucker", "Maggot Fan", "Bay Goner", or "Bigger Noobs"?

Now that we're dealing with only apples, please try to understand the point: these spoonerisms are thinly veiled attempts to circumvent the language filter, which is against the rules.

No it dosent. All it takes is several friends/guildies to gang up in the same outpost and all report for the name, the chain reaction reporting like that tips the automated report system and he gets banned.

Most likely what happened to OP.

Just face the facts...Anet has to do w/e they can to keep people playing this sad, dead excuse for a MMORPG

If that means banning people because some 10 year olds QQ about a name or some guy in Kamadan D1 feels like being a douche and ruining someone's newly-gained achievement, then Anet's sure as hell gonna bend over for em

Your character's name is no exception...if you have any doubts about whether a character name is appropriate, it probably isn't

No amount of complaining is going to let you keep that name. Change it and get on with it. Find yourself a synomym for cunning... crafty, deceitful, ingenious, etc...

This thread is going to get closed or deleted as you won't find sympathy here and just get flamed like all banned named/my acccount got hacked threads.
